Lord Murray is also a long-standing member of the Melbourne Press Club and The National Press Club of Australia. In November 2013 Lord Murray Schoorman was appointed a position on the committee of the Fitzroy Street Trader's Association & within a year he was promoted to the position of Vice President of the association.
