TARZAN The Stage Musical Swings Into Melbourne: Official Cast Announced at Polly Woodside
The jungle drums beat loud and clear this morning as the official cast of TARZAN The Stage Musical was revealed at a spectacular media event aboard Melbourne’s historic Polly Woodside ship. The announcement, attended by major outlets including Peak Hour Images and Channel 9, marks the beginning of a thrilling new chapter for Melbourne’s theatre scene.
Presented by the Green Room Award-winning James Terry Collective, this exclusive Melbourne season promises to bring Disney’s beloved animated classic to life with breathtaking aerial choreography and a heart-stopping score. The production will run at The National Theatre, St Kilda, from 29 August to 7 September 2025, with tickets starting at just $65.
The principal cast, unveiled to much fanfare, features a dazzling lineup of Australian stage talent ready to embody the iconic characters of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ timeless tale:
• Tarzan: [Joshua Russell], known for his powerhouse vocals and athletic prowess, takes on the titular role of the boy raised by apes.
• Jane Porter: [Emily Robinson], brings warmth and wit to the adventurous English botanist.
• Kala: [Sarah Murr], a Green Room nominee, portrays Tarzan’s devoted ape mother.
• Kerchak: [Joti Gore], a veteran of the Australian stage, commands as the stern but protective leader of the gorilla tribe.
• Terk: [Trent Owers], beloved for his comic timing, swings in as Tarzan’s mischievous best friend.

The full ensemble, including a talented troupe of dancers and aerialists, promises to deliver the high-flying action and emotional depth that have made Tarzan a global sensation.
With music and lyrics by Grammy and Oscar-winner Phil Collins, and a book by Tony Award-winner David Henry Hwang, TARZAN The Stage Musical is set to transport audiences on a journey of identity, love, and the universal quest for connection. This morning’s event featured a stirring medley of Phil Collins hits, including “Two Worlds,” “Waiting for This Moment,” and “Son of Man,” performed live by the principal cast.
