In the glass a purple plumb colour with the sent of wild fresh picked cherries wafting slowly up from the glass, give the wine a swirl or two and hints of camphor leather and earth, and older mushrooms make an appearance.

In the mouth the acid is medium as are the tannins not a surprise as the wine is 14 years old. However I expected a little more from this wine, as I tasted a bottle last year and remembered it to have more grunt.

The cherries follow through on the palette along with hints of dried cranberry and cold black tea. The aftertaste is pleasant enough although there is a hint of bitterness on the finish.

Nevertheless the wine has been more than enjoyable, and would have proven better with roast pork.

But beggars can’t be choosers, I had and did enjoy this wine with bloody good hamburger in the park with my dog.

To be honest I think this bottle may not have been showing at its best, as I stated I drank a bottle in lock down last year and it was full of grunt and power. Bottle variation a slight difference in bottle condition, the next bottle I open might just be life changing. Who knows!
