ESG Strategy, a leading Australian sustainability consultancy, officially launches its expanded operations with two new appointments – Mark Lyster and Ann Austin as founding directors.
Lee Stewart, the Principal and Owner of ESG Strategy and author of the Amazon #1 Best Seller in Green Business “How to Build Sustainability into Your Business Strategy”, says Mark and Ann will bring unparalleled expertise
“To mark this transformative moment with a dynamic crowd of industry leaders, partners, and clients sets a strong foundation for ESG Strategy’s vision to revolutionise the sustainability consulting space.
Ann, a sustainability leader in the property sector, will officially join ESG Strategy in early 2025. Her career includes spearheading transformative sustainability initiatives at Lendlease, which earned recognition in the 2023 Australian Financial Review’s Sustainability Leaders Awards.
“Ann is a visionary,” says Lee. “Her impressive experience as a trailblazer in the property sector will bring a wealth of experience to our team.”
Ann has play instrumental roles in shaping the sustainability landscape through her work with the Materials and Embodied Carbon Leaders Alliance (MECLA) and the Construction Industry Culture Taskforce (CICT).
“Co-founding ESG Strategy allows me to contribute meaningfully to multiple businesses, helping them align purpose with practical solutions to meet today’s sustainability challenges,” Ann said.
An expert in sustainable finance and ESG strategy and governance Mark’s career spans over 25 years with senior roles at EY, KPMG, and Action Sustainability Asia Pacific. He is already leading ESG Strategy’s expansion where his expertise in strategy and governance, risk management, and sustainable finance are proving valuable. His notable career achievements include pioneering the company’s Virtual Chief Sustainability Officer (V-CSO) offering.
“Joining ESG Strategy provides an incredible opportunity to collaborate with organisations that are ready to transform their business models through sustainability,” Mark shared.
At the launch event this week, ESG Strategy also celebrated its team of associates, including Miranda Sui, a leader in carbon accounting and B Corp certification; Roger Swinbourne, known for bridging technical expertise and business strategy; Karl Check, a climate risk and scenario analysis expert; and Frank Hubbard, a sustainable tourism pioneer. Together, the team embodies a collaborative approach that mentors and empowers clients while contributing deep expertise.
“With our innovative V-CSO model, ESG Strategy disrupts traditional sustainability consulting by making world-class expertise and leadership accessible to businesses of all sizes, not just top-tier ASX 100 companies,” said Lee.
The model provides affordable, flexible access to a team of seasoned sustainability professionals who guide clients in embedding impactful ESG practices into their operations.
“Our goal is to share knowledge, mentor clients, and foster career development, ensuring every business we partner with achieves tangible sustainability progress,” said CEO Lee Stewart. “This isn’t just about meeting compliance requirements; it’s about unlocking long-term value and creating meaningful impact.”
“As ESG Strategy embarks on this exciting new chapter, our team is poised to lead businesses through the complexities of sustainability, turning challenges into opportunities and fostering innovation across industries.”
