Residents Evacuate Safely as Blaze Rips Through Derrimut Townhouse
DERRIMUT, 1 July 2025 — Emergency services rushed to 69 Windsor Boulevard, Derrimut 3026, this morning after witnesses reported a fierce house fire engulfing a double-storey townhouse. Triple Zero received calls at approximately 10am, with reports of thick smoke and flames issuing from the property.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) responded rapidly, dispatching four appliances to the scene. Upon arrival at 10:07am, firefighters found the townhouse—adjoined to a neighbouring property—well alight, with flames concentrated on the ground floor. Crews launched an external attack and managed to knock down the fire, containing it to the ground level. The blaze was brought under control by 10:23am.

Our masthead’s chief crime reporter and leading photographer, Lord Murray Schoorman, accompanied by his work experience student from Frankston High School, arrived to find residents standing safely on the footpath, having evacuated before emergency crews arrived. All occupants were accounted for, and paramedics treated one individual at the scene.

Specialist arson chemists from FRV’s Fire Investigation Units were observed preparing to enter the fire-damaged 3 bedroom home to determine the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this stage. The State Fire Investigation Unit has taken carriage of the inquiry, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.

No neighbouring properties were reported to have sustained significant damage, thanks to the swift action of firefighters. The community awaits further updates as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
