Chief People and Purpose Officer Meegan Marshall addresses UN Global Compact Leaders Summit during Climate Week
Melbourne-based Intrepid Travel, the world’s largest adventure travel company and a certified B Corp, has been represented for the first time at the United Nations General Assembly and Climate Week in New York City.
Chief People and Purpose Officer, Meegan Marshall, spoke at the UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit on Tuesday 23 September, joining business leaders from around the world to discuss the role of responsible business in tackling climate change.
Marshall shared how Intrepid has achieved record financial and impact results since doubling down on its purpose and gaining B Corp certification in 2018.
Intrepid Travel Chief People and Purpose Officer, Meegan Marshall said: “It’s a huge honour to represent Intrepid at this global event and to have the opportunity to meet and learn from inspiring changemakers in the climate change space, as well as organisations who are leading change. Our mission is to create positive change through the joy of travel and I’ll be taking this experience back to our global teams, who are creating true impact, so we can continue to explore the world in a climate-conscious way for generations to come.”
Intrepid has been a participant in the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest sustainability initiative for businesses, since 2008. This year, it deepened this commitment by becoming a sponsor of the Coalition for Sustainable Procurement, as it believes responsible supply chains are essential for addressing urgent environmental and social challenges. Intrepid’s supply chain is made up of 10,000+ local suppliers in 118 countries. More than 85% of Intrepid’s emissions are in its supply chain (Scope 3).
Marshall was appointed Chief People and Purpose Officer at Intrepid Travel in 2024, which saw her remit expand from the People function to include Purpose and the Intrepid Foundation.
