This is Part 1 of a 2-part Golden Moment Repeat program featuring the Life and Times of Dugold Moyes.

Dugold was part of a generation that is no longer with us, a generation bought up during the terrible Depression Years of the early part of the 20th Century.

He shares some engrossing stories of his life during that terrible period although growing up in and around country Warragul, Victoria. Yet in many ways his story is quite different to those that have been told previously, those who may have been in the cities during this period unlike Dugold who was in the country.

Despite all the issues thrown at him he fulfils his dream of becoming a teacher, and in fact at the young age of 16 years of age, is accepted as a student teacher.

However, his teaching career gets put on hold when WWII breaks out and Dugold goes into the Army as an Interpreter, and is sent to New Guinea.
