Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principle of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community. Welcome to part 2 of the story of Honorene Olson. Born in India in 1939 to European parents and yet isolated from mainstream Indian culture, something she would come to regret in later life, Honorene makes the decision to come to Australia and to continue her work as a Primary School teacher.

After settling into Australian life and marrying, Honorene returns to study at Melbourne University where she gains the qualification necessary to work as a Primary teacher with children with disabilities, work that not only is she good in, but she absolutely loved.

A feature right throughout her story is, that while she may have been a teacher, she never stopped learning herself.
