Welcome to Listen To Older Voices, a program produced by Rob Greaves for Uniting Melba and podcast through the Toorak Times and Tagg.” color=”sandy-brown”][/vc_cta]
Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principle of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.
This is the third and final part of the Life and Times of Robert Lloyd, as we listen to Robert we can understand why his work as a drummer became far too limiting for him and how he had an imperative to extend himself and be challenged by far more than providing a beat for others.
Robert then studied at the Sydney Conservatorium where he developed a love for a more classical based music that is at the same time polyrhythmic. His story really explodes as his learning and experiences grow. He is given a grant to study Gamelan in Indonesia and travels widely including to London and New York both in search of wider experiences and always to further develop his music.
This is a fascinating conclusion to a great story of a creative member of a generation – The Baby Boomer Generation, a generation that has contributed much to our culture and like other Boomers, Robert continues to contribute right into his 3rd Age.
