As the sun sets on yet another year, our lead photographer and chief crime reporter, Lord Murray Schoorman was invited by Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, the Governor of Victoria to attend a celebration at Government House tonight.
Music by three separate choirs, not least of which was the fabulous Australian Girls Choir who ended their performance with a stunning rendition of “You raise me up” which had tears rolling down many ‘a cheek!
Following these choir performances, VIP guests enjoyed hospitality on the lawn surrounding the water fountain followed by private viewing access of the State Apartments, Grand dining room, Billiards room and other private rooms often inaccessible to the public.
Following the event, speaking exclusively to the Toorak Times, Lord Murray said “It was a wonderful evening, filled with beautiful performances from some very talented people indeed. Government House is a remarkable property steeped in history. It was an honour to attend and I look forward to their next event. I take this opportunity to wish all Australians a safe and enjoyable Christmas and prosperous New Year.”
Lord Murray Schoorman, a celebrity photographer turned celebrity in his own right, has been well documented in recent times. Most recently; with his ‘David v Goliath’ battle, when he famously challenged a VCAT rejection to officially change his name from Mr. to Lord. Having won that case and being granted permission to alter his given names to include the official title ‘Lord’ he is now known in Australia as Lord Murray Schoorman. At the time of his win, he said “I never take on a case I can’t win, and this has proven consistent yet again, with the successful outcome of today’s matter. After viewing and hearing all my professional evidence, the respondent agreed to allow ‘Lord’ to be a given name. The Member has now referred the matter back to VCAT to effect the change and then the matter will return to VCAT to be closed.”
Since becoming a Lord, Lord Murray has gone on to do some amazing things, including but not limited to the Victorian State Government inviting him to participate in Fire Rescue Victoria’s FireOps101 specialist programme which this masthead has previously reported on. Following that, several high profile PR agencies have reached out and invited Lord Murray to auspicious events such as Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival (Birdcage Hospitality) and attending Victoria Police’s Blue Ribbon Foundation annual gala dinner at Crown’s Palladium.
