The technical info – King Valley fruit. Fermented using indigenous yeasts on active Chardonnay lees. 30% in seasoned French oak barriques, 70% in stainless steel. Kept on lees for 9 months, then blended before bottling. No fining.
First let me start off by saying this has been a most enjoyable white wine. Don’t get me wrong it has been enjoyable not exciting, just a pleasure to drink.
On the nose when first opened I found Aligote perfume (Ale Got Ay) however as the wine opened in the decanter this did fade away to pear and clean mineral or even sea spray.
In the glass a cloudy pear colour. In the mouth the wine is clean with a hint of pear and minerals that wash the palate clean. As the wine warms and opens up a little there is a creaminess that fills the mouth. There is a textural side to the wine that made it easy to enjoy with or without food. As a drink it was easy to enjoy.
