Tamworth residents have a new location to recycle their eligible bottles, cans and cartons with the opening of a Return and Earn machine at the Tamworth Home Centre.

As the eighth return point in the Tamworth Regional Council area, it is now even more convenient for local community members to redeem their eligible drink containers to get the 10c refund.

“Residents in the Tamworth region are enthusiastic recyclers, having returned over 164 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points since the scheme began,” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, network operator for Return and Earn.

More than 13 billion drink containers have been returned for recycling through the network of over 660 return points across NSW since Return and Earn began, resulting in over $1.3 billion in container refunds back in people’s pockets.

The Tamworth Home Centre Return and Earn machine is located in the car park at 437 Goonoo Goonoo Road, Hillvue. It is open daily from 8.00am to 7.00pm.

The new machine will support the community’s enthusiastic use of the scheme with extra capacity. It has two chutes for lightweight containers (aluminium cans, plastic bottles and cartons) and two chutes for glass containers, making it a quick and hassle-free way to recycle while getting cash back.

Users of the machine can print a voucher for the refund amount, which can be redeemed for cash at Coles, or they can opt for an e-voucher or payment directly into their bank or PayPal account using the Return and Earn app.

Locals can also donate their refund to one of over 300 donation partners listed on the Return and Earn app. Tamworth has a variety of local organisations to consider donating to including the Tamworth branch of the Animal Welfare League, who raise funds to provide financial assistance to pet owners and education about responsible pet ownership.

Alternatively, you can donate to the current statewide donation partner Foodbank NSW & ACT. Foodbank is a food relief charity providing much needed assistance to individuals and families across NSW and the ACT. Donating just 5 containers creates 1 meal for Foodbank.
