Hello,
In the final moments before opening a new production, an electricity flies through the theatre and enlivens us all with anticipation. That’s the feeling in the Red Stitch building today. I saw a preview performance of Catherine Anne-Toupin’s RIGHT NOW earlier this week, and the surreal magic of this extraordinary, surprising play gets under your skin in an entirely unique way…we can’t wait for you to experience it. RIGHT NOW marks Katy Maudlin’s Red Stitch directorial debut.
Katy was our 2017 Graduate Director and we have loved having her back in the building. Here are some of her thoughts on RIGHT NOW:
“Building the world of this play has been joyful and exacting – we have spent many hours exploring stylistic tones and atmospheres, dissecting what is real and what is imagined. We have thought about what it takes to construct a perfect moment; about all the ways in which grief can manifest; how relationships can dissolve and reconstruct; that the roles we play aren’t always the roles we desire to play.”
RIGHT NOW opens tomorrow and plays until May 20.
Don’t miss out, book your tickets now.
See you at the theatre,

Chloë Violette in the Pre-show Parlour
The Pre-show Parlour is back and this time we are stoked to have the talented Chloë Violette gracing our Parlour stage!
Chloë is a Melbourne based folk singer/songwriter. Her vocals bring to life a rich tapestry of evocative lyrics. Her parents’ record collection of Carole King, Fleetwood Mac and her ultimate muse, Joni Mitchell, inspired Chloë’s love for music. Her current artistic influences include Laura Marling, Sufjan Stevens and Gordi.
Since the release of her debut film clip in 2017, Chloe has enjoyed writing new material and playing shows around Victoria. Her music is both a celebration of what it is to be feminine and what it is to feel.
Book your Right Now tickets for April 20th, 21st (sold out), or May 11th and enjoy a beautiful set of songs at 7pm from Chloë included in your ticket price.
