Australians will benefit from a groundbreaking partnership delivering affordable subscription access to solar, battery, and electric vehicle (EV) solutions, which will help people reduce their power bills.

The partnership between SmartTM and Intellihub’s new consumer brand, Enreal, allows customers to embrace and optimise renewable energy without the upfront costs. Solar panels, home battery systems, and energy optimisation technology are available at an affordable price, while novated leasing for EVs provides an end-to-end electrification solution.

Wes Ballantine, Intellihub Group Chief Executive Officer, said that this partnership offers a real-world opportunity to connect to clean energy without the confusion and expense many have faced.

“Renewable energy is the future, and we’re here to make it easy and affordable for homeowners ready to transition,” Mr Ballantine said.

“This partnership simplifies the decision by packaging up affordable home energy products and technology smarts that deliver immediate energy savings for customers. This partnership brings home energy and car choice into an affordable clean energy option, which is what the future is all about.”

Smart’s Group Executive, Sid Jha, said this offering tackles the affordability and complexity often associated with renewable energy and EV adoption.

“This offering means there are no huge cost barriers to entry for either the home electrification or the electric vehicle, and experts provide the installation,” Mr Jha said.

Smart customers will benefit from a complete solution with this service, accessing consumer energy resources (CER) products like solar panels, home battery systems, battery optimisation and orchestration, home energy device management, electric vehicles (EVs) and chargers. More importantly, customers will have expert help to choose the right equipment for the best energy production and savings, experienced and accredited installation technicians and simple payment options so customers can get started quickly, including an option with no upfront costs.

The partnership will offer a home energy management app that helps customers monitor, control and optimise their home energy usage. This app will integrate with other home energy devices, enabling customers to reduce energy consumption, lower energy bills, and decrease reliance on grid electricity.

This year alone, Australians are reported to have installed more than 3.15 GW of solar and purchased more than 70,000 EVs.

By 2030, Australia is projected to have 22.6 GW of solar panel capacity and 1.5 million EVs on the roads.

“This is the future of home energy, a microgrid where the homeowner is powering their house, appliances and vehicle – and selling the excess back to the grid,” Mr Jha said.

Smart one of Australia’s largest EV novated leasing providers, and Intellihub, leaders in energy innovation, offer Australians a simple and affordable pathway to begin their home energy transition.

The service will launch in metropolitan Sydney from today and expand to more households across Australia in 2025.

Intellihub’s survey found that:

  •          Almost half of Australian households have solar panels.
  •          74 per cent find the idea of installing a solar battery appealing.
  •          The biggest driver for solar energy / battery uptake is energy bill savings.
  •          The biggest barrier to installing solar energy / battery is the upfront cost.
  •          People with EVs or intending to buy EVs are more interested in solar energy/battery.
