The answer is reducing our ‘footprint in our homes and community by:

To help you on the journey we are running a free community event in Valentine.
Sounds of Sustainability Festival
Sunday 18 May, 2025 from 10am to 1pm
Allambee Park, Valentine
Stalls
Visit a great collection of sustainability and community stalls showcasing the ‘how’.
Includes:
● Valentine Primary School will have a stall to showcase their work to protect the marine sea-horses and more.
● No spray gardening & natural pest control & creating your own simple frog pond
● Wicking bed gardens that make your gardening so much easier by reducing water needs
● Reducing waste and reducing single-use plastic
● Energy meters & infrared camera to measure your home’s energy performance

Landcare plants that promote pollination, biodiversity and attract small native birds
● Electrify everything – move away from gas and reduce your Carbon footprint.
● Energy understanding – getting savvy about what uses a lot of electricity
● Electric cars and hybrids – speak to some owners and get the run down on efficiency.
● Reducing food waste with Oz Harvest
● Repair Cafe – Sewing machines & MoJo (Mr Fixit) – bring along clothing items for repair and some small household items for guidance and/or repair – maximum 3 items per person.
● Recycling options – for soft plastics, polyurethane, cardboard etc. on the east side of the lake.

10.30am – Sausage sizzle with vegetarian options organised by Valentine Lions Club

12.00pm – Drumming Circle – bring a chair, bring a percussion instrument

Kids Activities
We will also have some activities for kids like making an insect hotel, and story telling including about ‘The Lonely Plastic Bag’.
