We are grateful to the Victorian State Government for its continued support of Wildlife Victoria. This support enables us to carry out our critical work rescuing, rehabilitating, and protecting our precious native wildlife. The commitment plays a role in safeguarding Australia’s unique biodiversity and ensuring that our native species receive the care they urgently need.
However, demand for our services continues to grow year on year as our wildlife is increasingly impacted by climate change, habitat loss and urbanisation, placing increasing pressure on our dedicated team and resources. Wildlife Victoria is providing an essential public service, responding to over 160,000 calls for help annually, yet government funding accounts for less than 10% of our annual operating costs.
The vast majority of our work is made possible through the generosity of the community. While we value receiving a grant from the Victorian Government, we believe there is a need for more substantive and sustained funding support to help us meet the rising demand and ensure that no wildlife in need goes without care.
