The global microgrid market is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 17.8% from 2025 to 2034, according to Guidehouse Research.
-
More than 500 microgrids deployed worldwide, supporting critical infrastructure, industry, and remote communities.
Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has been named the world’s top microgrid integrator by Guidehouse Research in its 2025 Microgrid Integrators Leaderboard.
Schneider Electric secured the #1 position globally, achieving the highest overall score across both strategy and execution. The ranking recognises Schneider’s unmatched capabilities in delivering resilient, scalable, and sustainable microgrid solutions worldwide, and positions the company as the global benchmark for energy resilience in the face of climate and market disruption.
Guidehouse Research highlighted Schneider Electric’s:
-
Extensive global footprint with operations in more than 100 countries.
-
Proven track record, with more than 500 microgrids deployed across commercial, industrial, government, and remote community sectors.
-
EcoStruxure
Microgrid platform, integrating hardware, software, and services for turnkey delivery and lifecycle support.
-
Robust partner ecosystem, including its AlphaStruxure joint venture and collaborations with leading technology providers such as Mainspring Energy.
“Being ranked number one is independent recognition of our commitment to delivering reliable, future-ready energy systems that support both sustainability and resilience,” said Nicole Blackburn, Director Microgrids, Schneider Electric. “Microgrids are no longer a niche technology, they are essential infrastructure for businesses, governments, and communities facing energy volatility and climate-related disruption.”
A rapidly growing market
Microgrids are increasingly being deployed across critical infrastructure, industrial and commercial sites and remote communities to reduce costs, enhance resilience, and integrate renewable energy at scale. They are particularly important for sectors such as healthcare, data centres, defence, and transport, where even short interruptions to supply can have significant consequences.
The global microgrid market is forecast to grow from 7.8 GW of annual capacity additions in 2025 to 34.1 GW in 2034, representing a compound annual growth rate of 17.8%
This rapid expansion is being driven by decarbonisation policies, the electrification of transport, and increasing pressure on organisations to achieve net-zero targets.
Delivering impact in Australia
Schneider Electric’s leadership is already being demonstrated through local partnerships. In collaboration with UCS Group, Schneider recently deployed an intelligent microgrid solution at UCS’s own site in Victoria. The system, powered by EcoStruxure Microgrid Flex and EcoStruxure
Microgrid Advisor, has delivered more than 60% monthly savings on electricity bills, enabled 100% utilisation of onsite solar, and improved energy stability while reducing emissions
The solution applies AI-driven forecasting and optimisation to orchestrate solar generation, battery charging and discharging, and EV charging. The result is a reliable and efficient system that lowers costs, maximises renewable energy use, and strengthens resilience. Building on this success, Schneider and UCS are now rolling out multiple projects across Australia, helping businesses and communities move closer to 100% green-sourced energy
Schneider’s leadership
Schneider Electric continues to advance the sector through modular microgrid solutions and lifecycle services that accelerate deployment and make clean energy accessible to more organisations. Its end-to-end approach ensures customers benefit from design, implementation, and long-term support, underpinned by Schneider’s digital platforms and global expertise.
“From AI-ready data centres to remote communities, we are proud to partner with customers worldwide to design and deliver microgrids that are adaptable, intelligent, and sustainable,” added Nicole Blackburn. “This recognition reflects not just our technology, but our deep commitment to helping customers achieve resilience and sustainability goals in a rapidly changing energy landscape.”
