Review by Meredith Fuller OAM Psychologist & Author
Having seen the marvellous production of Henry V1 parts 1, 2 + 3, I was excited about seeing Richard III tonight at Theatre Works. So impressive!

I spoke with a theatre goer who came down from Canberra – he was delighted with the high standard of Part 1, 2 + 3 HENRY V1. Like me, he was keen to see tonight’s RICHARD III.
The pacing of this play was excellent. Again, the actors embodied their roles so completely that you could comprehend what was happening even if there were no words! How well they performed a challenging script; breathwork, intonation, and reverberation around the stage. The actors shone with wisdom and empathy beyond their years as they tackled this complex work. Richard III was stupendous, and I particularly liked the subtlety of treatment regarding his supposed body. I say this because there is some conjecture about his characteristics.
Some of the actors with a handy family tree before you enter

Costuming paid so much attention to detail and the choice of colour was inspired. Choreography was thrilling and kept us on the edge of our seats. Props were minimalist and essential only. Look out for the decapitated head (a big hit with the audience)
The ratio of humour to pathos and audience involvement was just right. What a satisfying conclusion to this bold work from DIR Robert Johnson.

The next two evenings is your last chance to see this epic – and you do have the opportunity to see the entire play on Saturday.
