Due to a change in international commitments, Barry Gibb’s ‘In The Now World Tour’ show dates, scheduled for April 2017 will not go ahead. Unfortunately this means he will not be performing on Easter Monday at Bluesfest. As sad as cancellations are, they do happen, but be assured that Bluesfest 2017 will continue to bring more incredible musicians to the stage (in addition to all the amazing artists already announced), who will meet all your expectations.
We look forward to announcing more outstanding artists in the New Year and spending this coming Easter with you – together in Happiness and Harmony. We are pleased to announce that Bluesfest is now close to 80% sold out!
Please do take a moment to read Peter Noble’s update.
In addition we would also be very grateful if you lend your support for the ABC Radio National Music shows ‘The Inside Sleeve’ and ‘The Live Set’ by signing their petition, as the shows are to be decommissioned.
A message from Peter Noble, Festival Director:
Hello Bluesfesters,
|
Well, firstly I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy & Prosperous New Year. We are busy at Bluesfest working on everything that it takes to present a Festival as large as Bluesfest. That is a huge undertaking, and one we handle with pride in our work. I am pleased to advise that our search to replace Neil Young is bearing fruit and we look forward to making an artist announcement soon after we return from our annual vacation on the week of January 9. I must now make an announcement that saddens me. Barry Gibb has changed his touring plans and will not be coming to Australia & New Zealand for his scheduled tour in 2017, including the Bluesfest play on Easter Monday. However, we already have an offer in for an amazing artist to take his place, and look forward to this confirmation and announcement as well. It’s looking very much like 2017 is going to be our year! Refunds for Monday one day ticket buyers are now available. You can hold your ticket until one week after the Monday replacement artist is announced, and STILL get a refund if you are not 100% happy with the replacement. As for the New Year, we are excited to be telling you all about who will be playing instead of Barry on Easter Monday, as well as Neil on Good Friday. Thank you all for trusting and believing in us! Peter Noble Festival Director

Hands off Radio National Music Campaign!
The ABC Radio National Music shows ‘The Inside Sleeve’ and ‘The Live Set’ are invaluable music and arts programs many of us enjoy and there has been an announcement recently to decommissioning these shows. This is really sad!
These programs are among the remaining windows for Australian artists to tell their stories about Australian life, for people to hear and learn from those stories and for all Australians to hear the songs and stories of other cultures from around the world.
