A crime scene is set up at a popular Melbourne shopping centre on Thursday morning after the discovery of a man’s body in a car park.

A member of the public found the man’s body at Westfield Southland Shopping Centre about 5:30am today, Thursday 3 October 2024 and called emergency services.

Police cordoned off the area before the shopping centre opened. The Toorak Times sent our chief crime reporter and lead photographer, Lord Murray Schoorman to the scene.

In a statement, police confirmed the man’s body was found in a shopping centre on Chesterville Road in Cheltenham. The death appeared to be non-suspicious. The carpark will be re-opened once evidence is collected, photographed and Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
