Cannon drops new Double A-side EP “Code Blue / Damn Rats” on Friday April 22 and celebrates with a 4th attempt at launching their 2021 debut album, Connexion, at Fitzroy’s legendary venue, The Old Bar on Friday 29 April.
Cannon’s hazy guitars, hypnotic grooves and all out fuzz rock stompers are set to explode at the long overdue live show. Support for the show is Ash Santilla (formerly 67 Special), who will perform tracks from his haunting debut solo record due later this year.
Recorded by Fabian Hunter at Fishbone Tone Shack, and mixed and mastered by Nao Anzai, “Code Blue / Damn Rats” is powerful, raw and filled with perfect anecdotes for the modern absurdity of living in 2022.
The band (Mitchy McIvor, Adam Green and Dave Mudie) returned in 2021 and Tyler Jenke of Rolling Stone Australia said “Cannon are still the Aussie rock powerhouse they’ve always been.” In 2022 – they are better again.
Code Blue is about a character stricken in hospital who, in a state of emotional and physical stress, foolishly believes that a relationship has formed with their carer, which, given the patient’s medical predicament, ultimately may not last the distance.
Damn Rats is a song inspired by the increased surveillance of citizens and the mistrust of politicians more interested in career progression than any care for their electorate.
