The curtain has just fallen on the standout variety show that is CLUB VEGAS THE SPECTACLE!
CLUB VEGAS THE SPECTACLE promised to have audiences laughing, dancing & singing in their seat along to the heart thumping, high-octane electric fusion of 70’s /80’s/90’s and they sure lived up to that promise, with thousands of lucky guests beaming from ear-to-ear, night after night, throughout their short season at Melbourne’s famous Atheneum Theatre in Collins Street.
There was a wide variety of music & songs featured in the show which included Ricky Martin, David Guetta, Dua Lipa, Frank Sinatra, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Mowton, Barry Manilow, Earth Wind and Fire, Ed Sheeran, Wayne Newton, Shakira, Donna Summer & more.
One of many show highlights was the stage debut of Allan Raskall. That name may ring a bell or two for most locals as Allan has been the Ch9 News’ entertainment and lifestyle reporter for many years.
As a veteran journalist, Allan has two decades experience covering some of this country’s biggest stories including Victoria’s devastating Black Saturday bushfires, Royal tours, world economic summits, Federal and State elections, major sporting events as well as Melbourne’s bloody gangland war.
Completing a Bachelor of Arts-Communications degree while working in the industry, Allan began his career with 9NEWS reporting, presenting, producing and chief-of-staffing across 11 years in the Sydney, Darwin and Melbourne markets.
He then spent six years reporting for 10 News, before becoming a freelance reporter for 7 News and SBS World News.
Allan returned to 9NEWS Melbourne in a freelance capacity in October 2013.
Allan remarked, “I often sing, dance and act when preparing my entertainment reports for the evening news, so I am very excited to join the cast of Club Vegas, bringing all the glitz and glamour of sin city down under!”
“For so long I have engaged with the audience through a lens, so I’m really looking forward to engaging with audiences directly from the stage.”
Allan joins the previously announced musical theatre performer Rachael Beck along with an uber talented cast of 22 world-class Australian performers led by Club Vegas host/comedy funny man Gino Starr (played by James Liotta) who will share the glittering spotlight with dynamic singers (Jonathan Guthrie-Jones, J’aime Holland, Lissa Dawson) who will be saluting many famous icons who have graced Las Vegas showroom stages; breathtaking aerialists, international circus performers, stunning dancers, mind blowing staging and jaw-dropping props.
Special mention to Dion & Randall’s lead costume designer, Nina Randall Bahoudian. Her creative vision is exemplary and the calibre of costumery on stage was mid-boggling even at an international standard. Melbourne critics were left speechless at this eye catching and highly impressive production.
Following the final show for their 2024 season, it was announced that entertainment rival, Carnival Corporation will windup the P&O Cruises Australia brand in March 2025, marking the first time the corporation has ended one of its historic brand names since it began acquiring cruise lines in 1989.
I mean really, how can it compete with high profile productions like CLUB VEGAS – The Spectacle!
