GRENADINE SYRUP A pomegranate syrup which is used a lot in France and has a beautiful red colour. It is a favourite addition to mixes

HEERING’S CHERRY BRANDY Cherry liqueur from Denmark, rightly the best known cherry brandy,
HEIDSIECK MONOPOLE World famous champagne. There is “Heidsieck Monopole demi Sec”, “Red Top” dry Monopole (brut), Dry Monopole Rose (brut)
HIMBEERGEIST Favourite spirit obtained from raspberries which is served like cherry water and is also used for mixing
HULSTKAMP Dutch liqueurs suitable for mixing of cocktails
INDIAN QUININE WATER Tonic water, bitter-sweet alcohol-free drink con-centrated with carbonic acid
IRISH MIST An Irish whisky which has a slightly different flavour from Scotch whisky. Best known cocktail: “Irish coffee”. Well known brands: John Jameson, John Power, Paddy, Tullamore, John Locke and Bush Mills
IVA FLEUR A liqueur with Iva aroma
IZARRA An excellent French liqueur produced since 1835
JIM BEAM A straight Bourbon whisky

KEUCK The best kpown is Keuck Turkish Mocca liqueur, a speciality which is also suitable for mixing
KING GEORGE IV Well-known Scotch whisky. KUEMMEL Cumin seed brandy seldom used for mixing, should be stored cold.

LARRESINGLE (Chateau de) Excellent Armagnac
LILLET An aperitif based on white wine with cinchona bark and added Armagnac
LIME English name for limonelle — a lemonlike fruit which is used in America in the bars instead of lemon.

LUXARDO A trade name of an excellent Maraschino liqueur named after the local type of cherry “Marasca”

MANDARINES CREME DE A fine, very sweet liqueur
MANZANILLA A light-coloured dry sherry
MARIE BRIZARD World famous French liqueur
MARTELL Internationally known Cognac
MARTINI VERMOUTH From the world famous firm of Martini & Rossi. Martini Extra Dry, Martini Bianco, Martini Sweet. Aperitif Rossi is also well liked. Less known is the Kina Martini.

OUZO Greek liqueur with aniseed flavour
PARFAIT AMOUR A mauve-coloured liqueur, often used for mixing cocktails
PASH Registered name for Passion fruit juice. Juice extract of an Australian fruit. Used in the bar a lot
PEACH BRANDY Excellent peach brandy. Frequently used for cock-tail mixing
PECCO CREME DE A Dutch tea liqueur
PERNOD Favourite aperitif tasting of aniseed
PERRIER Effervescent French mineral water
PEPPERMINT (Creme de Menthe) A liqueur sold in white and green colour
PIMM’S Pimm’s No. 1 gin base; Pimm’s No. 2 whisky; Pimmrs No. 3 cognac; Pimm’s No. 4 rum
PISCO A South-American brandy which is often used in the mixing of cocktails

SCHLICHTE One of the best known Steinhaegers, German guests like it with their beer. SCHWEPPES Well known firm which produces mostly soda water, tonic water, ginger ale, bitter lemon
SCOTCH WHISKY The world famous distillate from Scotland, produced commercially since 1814. There are four regions where whisky is being distilled: The High-lands, the Lowlands, Cambelltown and Islay. The main ingredient is barley. Later pure corn brandy is added and blended whisky results.
A. Standard quality: Ballantyne Bell’s “Black and White”, Gilbey’s Royal Spey, John Haig, King George IV, Johnnie Walker, Vat 69, White Horse and White Label Dewar’s.
B. De Luxe Quality: Ancestor de Luxe, Ballan-tyners 17 Year Old, Buchanan’s De Luxe, Chivas Regal, Haig’s Dimple, Johnnie Walker Black Label, Old Parr.
SEAGRAM This house produced several spirits well known on the market: Seagram V. O. Canadian Whisky, Seagram Bourbon, Seagram Gin, Seagram Vodka
SHERRY Internationally accepted name for the Spanish wine “Jerez”. Today there are the following main types of sherry: Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso and Palos-Cortados.
The “Finns” are light-coloured, aromatic and have an individual bouquet. “Manzanillo” is a well-known type cultivated in Santa Lucar. “Oloroso” is a sherry with an outstanding aroma. SLIVOVICA Real Yugoslav plum brandy, also made in Austria. SLOE GIN Distilled from the sloe berry

STREGA Popular liqueur from Italy
TABASCO A strongly spiced sauce made from pepper
TANQUERAY’S A very good London dry gin
TEQUILA Mexican liqueur, also for mixing cocktails
TIA MARIA A liqueur from Jamaica made from sugar cane juice, mountain-grown coffee and tropical herbs
TRIPLE SEC A name which is usually given when used in con-nection with Curacao and similar liqueurs. Many cocktails, such as White Lady, Side Car are mixed with Triple Sec.

UNDERBERG German bitters
VAN DER HUM A liqueur similar to Curacao.
VANDERMINT Minted Chocolate Liqueur.
VICHY Well-known French mineral water
VEUVE CLIQUOT-PONSARDIN An excellent champagne
VODKA The Russian national spirit. It tastes best with cold hors douvres, such as caviar and smoked salmon. It is used in the bar in many mixtures
