Amy Zapantis: Founder of Amatus Skin
In my early days, I had always been fascinated by beauty and skincare and as I started getting older, I noticed my skin changing and wanted to implement a simple yet effective routine to maintain every day, especially not really having one previously and just using products I found in my mum or sisters’ cupboards or just the latest thing I had seen. As I started exploring products and the industry I just found confusion! After a lot of research, it was clear I wasn’t the only one overwhelmed and starting a skincare journey seemed daunting. I wanted to develop a core range of skincare products for all skin types for everyday use based on a refined routine and the highest quality ingredients. I have been working in the industry for 11 years (starting as a trained beautician) and I used my experience and teamed up with chemists who have over 30 years of experience in medical skincare formulation and development to create Amatus.
As research and advancements in dermatology and skincare technology improved, the industry began to shift towards a more holistic approach. This realisation led to a focus on prevention and solution focus, education, and multiple-purpose high-level ingredients.
With the advent of social media and online platforms, the skincare community began to grow and evolve. People were sharing their experiences, asking questions, and seeking advice from others who had similar skin concerns. This created a sense of belonging and empowerment among individuals who were once isolated in their struggles with skin issues. Therefore, I wanted to ensure my brand was inclusive, included multiple-purpose ingredients and products to target deeper skin concerns, high quality and refined as well as provided education and awareness.
Amatus is simple skincare, backed by science. We lead with effectiveness, simplicity, and transparency. We offer a simple skin care solution in just 3 steps; Cleanser, Serum, and Moisturiser. Where all of our products use dermatological-grade ingredients, this means the purest form, undiluted and targets multiple skin concerns. We only use up to 20 ingredients per product which allows your skin to take in and maximise the benefits of each. Our focus is on creating high-quality refined formulas and streamlined routines. We have the key to not only achieving but maintaining clear and healthy skin. Skincare doesn’t need to be complicated!
Having launched the brand initially in the UK, we now work and are based in Melbourne, specifically in Toorak. Toorak has a strong sense of community, with many residents participating in local events and organisations. We have hosted pop-ups around the area and the community has been very welcoming, engaging and supportive. It is been so positive to join the community and we have loved growing within it.
