EnergyLab has announced ten leading clean energy start-ups selected to collaborate with Australian and NZ energy companies to explore partnerships that will help decarbonise the grid.

This marks the fifth consecutive year of EnergyLab’s industry-led Scaleup Program, which partners with innovative energy companies including Endeavour Energy, Powerlink & Ausgrid to identify their key strategic needs and then carry out a global search to find leading startups offering relevant solutions.

The 2024 Scaleup Program cohort consists of 5 startups from Australia, 4 from Europe, and 1 from the US, with technologies spanning grid digitisation, advanced analytics, social licence and community engagement, commercial and industrial decarbonisation, distributed energy resource management and on-demand satellite imaging. These startups represent the best in innovative technologies across the energy sector and have been selected in consultation with energy industry partners.

“We’re supercharging the transition to a brighter energy future in partnership with Australia’s largest climate tech accelerator and innovation network, EnergyLab,” said Endeavour Energy’s Chief Customer and Strategy Officer Leanne Pickering.

“This is our fourth year partnering with EnergyLab for the Scaleup Program to identify innovative late-stage start-ups to help us deliver new systems and technology for smarter, cleaner energy, today.

In addition to offering startups the opportunity to meet, and collaborate with Australia and New Zealand’s most innovative energy companies, the scaleup program introduces startups to some of Australia’s most active climate tech investors, relevant government organisations, and experts from EnergyLab’s 400-strong mentor network.

EnergyLab’s CEO, Megan Fisher, said EnergyLab’s Scaleup Program is bridging the gap between global startups and Australian energy companies.

“The Scaleup Program helps to connect startups working on breakthrough energy technologies from anywhere in the world with Aussie energy companies and supports them to explore pilots & partnerships opportunities.

This not only helps startups to unlock their next wave of commercial opportunities, but also helps industry partners explore emerging tech to decarbonise the grid”.

EnergyLab’s commitment to fostering collaboration within the energy sector continues to play a crucial role in accelerating the transition to renewable energy solutions. This year’s selected startups, both local and global, are poised to make significant contributions to Australia’s net zero ambitions.”

The Energy Scaleup Program will run over the next 3 months culminating with a virtual public showcase to be held w/c Oct 7th. Expressions of interest from startups for the 2025 cohort are now open at the scaleup website. Prospective industry partners are also invited to reach out to Scaleup Program lead Tim Bray.
