International Stud: Broadway’s finest Freudian love-romp comes to The Butterfly Club.
Psychologically and sexually charged, International Stud is the first act of Harvey Fienstein’s Torch Trilogy, a timeless and poignant analysis of love, sexuality and what it is to be human. Starring Jacob Antolini and directed by psychologist Meredith Fuller, it is punctuated with stunning jazz music, theatrical deconstructions and dripping with atmospheric lighting by Tom Fry.
In International Stud, we follow Arnold’s life and relationships as a drag cabaret performer wanting to love and be loved, while his lover Ed is forced to ‘meet himself’ through his own dream interpretations. It is part character comedy, part revelation, part break-up & make-up story and all entertainment.
The action takes place in New York City where we first meet Arnold in his backstage dressingroom, forlornly ruminating on his search for love. He meets Ed, and we are later transported to their apartments, and to the ‘Stud’ room.
International Stud features Jacob Antolini & Adam Hetherington. Sultry singer & pianist Caity Berwick as ‘Lady Blues’ and sax player Paddy Adeney torch original arrangements. It is a psychological tour de force ably guided by director Meredith Fuller.
The production opens on the 10th of February and runs for 5 nights. Bookings highly recommended.
