Welcome to Listen To Older Voices, a program produced
by Rob Greaves for Uniting Melba and podcast through
the Toorak Times and Tagg.
Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principle of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.
This is the second of a 3-part program on the Life & Times of Mink Vanderslik. Mink continues her stories of what life was like during the war and her stories include one involving a German “buzz bomb” that was on its way to London, but failed to reach its destination falling near her home.
At wars end, we learn of the part her father played in the reconstruction of the region of Holland they lived in. We learn how Mink met Fred Vanderslik, who would become her husband and the circumstances that led them migrating to Australia.
