Welcome to Listen To Older Voices, a program produced Rob Greaves for Wesley Mission Victoria and podcast through the Toorak Times.
Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principal of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.
This is part two of a four-part program involving Eileen Hampson. Eileen was born in London in 1919. In this weeks program Eileen talks about the years of the Second World War and how the war was literally on her doorstep, as she lived in such close proximity to London and the bombing.
Eileen talks with passion and enthusiasm on a range of topics including dances, which is where she met her husband to be Scot, Robert Hampson – a Scot who stole her heart. They marry and by wars end they had three children and Eileen shares with us the circumstances that saw them both migrate to Australia. There are many great stories to listen to, all told by a great storyteller.
