Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principle of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community. This is the 2nd part of a 3-part program featuring the Life and Times of Frank Foxcroft. Born in 1912, Frank tells of how he met the love of his life – Sheila. He regales us with tales of the problems they both faced after getting married when the primitive lifestyle Frank lived as a single man, continued on even though they were now a couple.

Living in one room schoolteacher accommodation was certainly not what Sheila had expected when she married Frank.

A one room school in the area that Frank taught

Sheila was to play an important part in Frank’s life, as we will hear and, fate has an interesting way of intervening in some people’s life and it eventually smiled on Frank and Sheila in a most unexpected way when Frank is suddenly transferred to a new school.
