Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principal of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.
This is a Golden Moment repeat program, which we are revisiting for all those that may have missed it the first time. Keith Thomas was interviewed by Jaycey Hall in 2003. He was born in the very small Victorian town of Millgrove, near Warburton in Victoria in 1925. He is able to recall all the way back to 1935 and the great floods that hit the area, and in recalling that period he is also recalling the terrible times of the Great Depression.

His recollections of the time growing up are the stories of wonderful days of a time that was both simple and innocent. Yet as idyllic as it might seem in comparison to the stresses of today, Keith does remind us that is was still tough for his family. His story is that of a man who did much and believes that despite everything, he has been lucky with his family and his life.
