Rob Greaves for Uniting Melba and podcast through the Toorak Times and Tagg.
Listen To Older Voices presents the stories, views and opinions of our older citizens. It is predominantly in a life & times format, with interviewees reflecting upon their lives from earliest memories. An underlying principle of the program is to promote the concept of positive ageing, reinforcing the principle that older people have & continue to make a valuable contribution to both their local & wider community.
This final part of the story of Marie Earle is packed with stories of adventure and also includes some of Marie’s philosophies on life.
Although the butcher business she and Gerard owned and ran was successful, they were still forced to take separate holidays so one of them was always in attendance. Marie talks at some length of her overseas trips without Gerard.
Sadly Gerard passes away, but that doesn’t stop Marie from travelling as she was really bitten by the travel bug and she entertains and educates us with many fine travel stories. But, her life is more than travel as we discover the circumstances that led her to becoming a local councillor.
Marie is a person who has enjoyed life to its fullest and reminds us that ageing need not be a sentence but, simply another step in life’s journey, and is to be experienced and enjoyed to its fullest.
