We gained a lot of information of Phyllis’ early years in part 1 of her story, and in part 2, Phyllis covers an amazing amount of ground. Humour constantly punctuates her stories and there are few funnier than her story of her attempt to smoke.
Phyllis also provides some very chilling stories, one in particular about her uncle, who was an ANZAC, and it reminds us that these are stories that need to be told and remembered.
Yet Phyllis had a knack of switching from the chilling to the fascinating in the blink of an eye and before we know it, her stories involve rabbits, dogs and how cleaning a muddy floor, led her to meeting her husband to be, Ted.
One story that is really engaging is how Phyllis came to be, at the time of the interview, the oldest elder of the Yarra Tribe.
This part of her story finishes off with how she and Ted came to be ridding in a covered wagon with a ferret and a dingo!
