Ahead of his performance at Splendour in The Grass this weekend, Paul Kelly and his band decided to iron out the kinks in an intimate show at St Kilda’s MEMO Music Hall this Thursday 20 July. Tickets went on sale at 10 am this morning, and were sold out in a record 30 minutes.
At the show Kelly will debut his new album ‘Life Is Fine’, one of his strongest and most evocative albums. He fires up with a band of long-time musical friends, capturing all the excitement of them playing live in the studio, and delivering a record that crackles with an energy reminiscent of his finest 80s recordings.
MEMO’s had a run of sell-out gigs recently including Dan Sultan, Bic Runga, two shows for Tex, Don & Charlie with Paul Kelly’s performance being the latest sell-out highlight for St Kilda’s hidden musical jewel.
Yesterday the MEMO Mid-Winter Open Day – drew a crowd of 300 people who enjoyed staying warm with hot toddies and great free bands. The Open Days featuring free entertainment will be a regular event.
Legendary names of Australian music coming up soon on the bill at MEMO include Renee Geyer, Russell Morris, Vince Jones and the all-new RocKwiz Record Club.
