Applications now open to WA venues, promoters and labels to apply for grants to deliver West Australian, original contemporary live music events in March 2021.
In August our State Premier, Mark McGowan, announced the ‘Getting the show Back on the Road’ COVID-19 package, featuring $350 000 for WAM to distribute directly to WA’s contemporary, original artists and the venues and industry practitioners that keep this sector alive.
With every much-needed cent is going back into the sector, we’re facilitating grants to put a portion of the funds straight into the hands of live music venues, promoters and labels across the state, to deliver a live music event showcasing original, contemporary WA artists between Friday 19 March 2021 and Friday 26 March 2021.
Applications close at 11.59pm (WST) Sunday 10 January 2021.
FAQ
WHO CAN APPLY?
Any West Australian owned and operated venue, promoter or label. Eligible venues are those which:
– Host original live music at least 2 nights per week, every week of the year
– Provide PA and FOH operator to musicians
WHAT SHOULD THE EVENT INCLUDE?
The event must consist entirely of West Australian live original music, and be held between Friday 19 March 2021 and Friday 29 March 2021. Your regular venue programming or label/promoter events may meet this criteria, or you may wish to formulate another event.
Applications and events will be assessed on quality: showcasing a high quality of musicianship, previous activity: how active the venue, promoter or label have been their roles in the previous twelve months, and diversity: preference will be given to events that are inclusive and showcase the diversity within the WA music sector.
HOW MUCH IS THE GRANT FOR?
The eligible grant amount is determined by the capacity of your event venue, with the aim of supporting venue operation and associated event costs (marketing, artist performance fees etc).

I HAVE TWO EVENTS IN MIND. CAN I APPLY FOR BOTH?
Yes. You are eligible to hold multiple events throughout the week and can submit a separate application for each event.
