There is a musical melange in his mind that drives him to create triumphant music, literature and art, which has been described as unconventional, inspired, avant-garde, luminary and memorable.

Karma County presents their Last Stop Heavenly Heights 25th Anniversary on Friday March 11.
Karma County’s debut album was released on Kansas, USA based label Laughing Boy in 1996.
Arriving on stage in those early days around Sydney with just a snare drum, acoustic guitar and double bass, the band foreshadowed the acoustic roots movement that has become an essential element of contemporary Australian music with songs like the evergreen Postcard.
Since those small beginnings they have waltzed their way into the hearts and minds of music fans, and critics, all over the world.
They went on to release four more celebrated studio albums and one double album retrospective, including ARIA nominee Olana (1999), and ARIA winner Into The Land of Promise (2000). They played house concerts, pubs in the bush, the Sydney Opera House, and international festivals like WOMAD Auckland, WOMAD Reading, WOMAD Seattle and more.
And occasionally doubled up as the backing band for their late friend and mentor, legendary singer Jimmy Little, in Australia, Europe and North America.
The three founding members – Brendan Gallagher voc/guitar, Michael Galeazzi bass, & Stuart Eadie drums – head out on the road again to play Last Stop Heavenly Heights in full, and some other much loved songs from their unique songbook.
Good music lasts forever.
Here’s the clip of Postcard to remind you of what you will be hearing.
To win a double pass email neilwedd@thethornburytheatre.com with two other projects Brendan has been involved with.

Christine Manetta launches her album on Sunday March 20 with an afternoon show. Doors open at 3.30pm and she and her band are being supported by Jarrod Shaw. Tickets are selling quickly, so don’t miss out.
Over the past few years, Christine collaborated with the pianist and artistic director Adam Rudegeair (Lake Minnetonka, The Bowie Project) to produce an eclectic album that draws on genres such as Contemporary Blues, Jazz intertwined with Afro-Beats and Hip-Hop Electronica, with touches of Christine’s own Euro-Egyptian heritage in the mix. The album explores and illuminates the themes of adversity, determination and empowerment that are articulated through the celebration of women and motherhood.
Emerging in 2021 as a dynamic Songwriter with songs from the Album being shortlisted in four categories in the 2021 Australian Songwriters Association Contest, Christine reminds us that age is no barrier in the pursuit of creative truths.
After five years of directing, producing and performing in Love Me or Leave Me-A Tribute to Nina Simone, a critically acclaimed show about one of her greatest artistic influences, Christine decided it was time to tell her own stories.

Babe Rainbow play on Saturday March 26
Babe Rainbow SMASH THE MACHINE.
Shit a brick! Babe Rainbow SMASH THE MACHINE.
Rockit clock says summers coming on, Babes got the songs and shows ready to soundtrack. First off is new single “Smash the Machine”, an air adventure out of your head and into the screen. A contradictory joyous choir of harmony to juxtapose its biting commentary on technology and consumerism.
We bookend a year that started with Babe Rainbow alongside Jaden Smith pushing imaginations on what the intersection of rainbow psyche music and hip hop sounds like. It was lifted from the bands fourth album that UK Clash Magazine reviewer called “Psych-pop constructed with a painterly touch, Babe Rainbow seem to thrive on feeling, unhooking themselves from logical realms and embarking on lengthy journeys across turbulent inner oceans.”

Checkerboard Lounge are a Melbourne institution, So proud to be hosting their launch on Friday April 1.
SUN SESSIONS, which is out Feb 4 on Cheersquad Records & Tapes, was recorded at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee; the very room in which maverick visionary Sam Phillips recorded not only Elvis Presley for the first time, but also the likes of Howlin’ Wolf, Ike Turner, BB King, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison and countless other blues, rock and country artists in the ’50s.
Thornbury Theatre will host Checkerboard Lounge featuring guest bassist Zoe Frater and support from the wonderful Sarah Caroll
Ever since their famed seven-year residency at the Great Britain Hotel in Richmond kicked off 30 years ago, Checkerboard Lounge has been a Melbourne institution. A breeding ground for many young players in blues and beyond, the group took a giant leap in 2020, when, having won the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society’s 2019 Blues Challenge, they were invited to participate in the International Blues Challenge, in Memphis Tennessee. There they reached the semi-finals, but more importantly in the long run, they also received an invitation to record at the legendary Sun Studio.
Don’t miss out on the show.
