Paper Planet by Polyglot Theatre
Thank you to everyone who came along to Paper Planet by Polyglot Theatre last week at Brighton Town Hall to celebrate Debbie Symons: Sing exhibition currently showing at Bayside Gallery.
Brighton Town Hall was transformed into a forest of tall cardboard trees and children were invited to create birds, creatures, vines, costumes from paper and cardboard to add to the environment.
It was wonderful to see so many children, parents and grandparents getting creative and having so much fun.

Art and Science: Communication and Collaboration panel discussion with Sing artist Debbie Symons
Join exhibiting artist, Debbie Symons, for a fascinating panel discussion about how art and science collaborate to explore and communicate key issues in today’s society, particularly climate change and environmental issues.
Facilitated by Bronwyn Johnson, Creative Producer, Curator and Editor, CLIMARTE: Arts for a safe climate, panelists include Kit Wise, Dean, School of Art, RMIT, Professor David Karoly, CSIRO, one of Australia’s leading atmospheric scientists and Lilian Fraiji, curator and producer of Labverde, art immersion program in the Amazon.

Saturday Studio Sessions, Youth Workshops
Ever wanted to see behind the scenes into a working artists studio? Want to gain new skills and an insight into what it means to be a practising artist?
If you are aged between 13 and 25 come along and join us for our Saturday Studio Sessions. Over the course of 6 weeks, in the lead up to the Youth of Bayside Art Exhibition, you have the chance to work with some of the best local artists in Bayside both in their studios and at the Bayside Gallery. Each week a different artist will be offering a workshop in a different medium.
Designed especially for young people, each workshop is delivered in a safe and supportive environment where you can let your inner creativity shine!

Week 1: Urban Clay: Wheel Throwing
Saturday 15 May
1am – 3pm
Location: The studios at 2/37 Advantage Rd, Highett VIC 3190
Cost: $20
Join Urban Clay in their Advantage Road studio for a session where you will get a great introduction to working with clay on the wheel! Students work at their own pace & no previous experience is required. Each student will have their own wheel to work on & create some pieces that will be fired & glazed by the studio & available to pick up at a later date.

Taste of Bayside – Discover our best local eats
This June, the inaugural Taste of Bayside will light up our activity centres with a series of night-time projections on some of Bayside’s best-loved hospitality venues helping you discover our best eats.
Through video and moving imagery, the projections will bring Bayside’s food stories to life and raise the curtain on what happens behind the scenes in your favourite Bayside kitchens.
Alongside the foodie-themed light projections, businesses taking part in Taste of Bayside will offer menu specials to entice more people through their doors.
Get Involved
Whether it’s where you had your first dinner date, your Friday night favourite or that special dish that brings back good memories, we want to hear about your unforgettable Bayside dining experiences.
Head to one of our story collection sessions to record a story about your favourite food, bring your food-inspired ideas to life through animation, or tell us about your best Bayside eats and your story could be projected on the streets of Bayside.
All sessions are free and open to Bayside residents of all ages to drop in and get their creative juices flowing.
