CoPP Mayor, Dick Gross released this statement today –
I want to make clear that St Kilda is – and will remain – a beacon of inclusion, tolerance and diversity.
Our Council will always call out racism and intolerance as abhorrent and unacceptable in a City long known as a safe and accepting place for all.
Our Council will also never tolerate violence, inciting violence or anti-social behaviour by any individual or group.
St Kilda is a special place for visitors to enjoy and experience. We continue to warmly welcome everyone who recognises this and does not seek to hurt others through racist words or any form of violence.
We thank the police for the great job they have done today in protecting our City and community.
