MC Uncle Jack Charles

Malthouse Theatre is proud to present the Reconciliation Comedy Gala, a star-studded afternoon of comedy for a great cause.

The gala will raise funds for the City of Yarra’s Stolen Generations Marker project. This important monument is intended to honour the struggles of the Stolen Generations as well as acknowledge the resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities, clans and groups who seek to heal from the past. The artist commissioned to create the Marker will be announced at this event on 26 January.

Of the event, Malthouse Theatre Associate Producer Jason Tamiru says, ‘The Reconciliation Gala will feature a selection of Australia’s most prominent comedians, and promotes the recognition of Australia’s Stolen Generations. The event also presents Melbourne audiences with an alternative to throwing a lamb on the barbie on one of our most controversial public holidays.’

Performers at the Reconciliation Gala will include: MC Uncle Jack Charles, Eddie Perfect, Tripod, Nelly Thomas, Kevin Kropinyeri, Shiralee Hood, Dane Simpson and a gazillion more TV comedy greats yet to be announced.
