Avant-pop outsider Jack Colwell is pleased to announce a three-date tour in January 2017 to celebrate his new single Seek The Wild. The limited-capacity gigs follow Jack’s whirlwind national tour in October and sold-out show at the Sydney Opera House Studio.
Jack has again invited a diverse bunch of friends and peers to join him. In Melbourne, he’s supported by Oz-rock heavy hitters Hoodlum Shouts, whose second album “Heat Island” (Poison City) drew rave reviews in 2016 from Rolling Stone Australia and others.
In Sydney, Jack is supported by new alt.-pop singer ELKI, who has already been hyped by trend-setting UK blog Popjustice and whose second single “Thunder” recently scored Triple J rotation. In Canberra, Jack is joined by indie/folk songwriter Julia Johnson, who attracted praise for her band Julia and the Deep Sea Sirens and, more recently, has won plaudits for her distinctive solo work.
Seek The Wild is Jack’s catchiest and most vibrant song to date. Co-produced by Matthew Neighbour (Milk Records, The Temper Trap) at Melbourne’s famed Sing Sing Studios and mastered by Matt Colton (Flume, Brian Eno), the track features sparkling grand piano and an array of vintage synthesisers.
“Seek The Wild is another creatively unbound track from one of Australia’s most innovative emerging artists” – Rolling Stone Australia

“Reviews depict Colwell in many hats – indie songwriter, queer role model, classical protégé, in-demand collaborator – and he wore all and none at the Opera House. He has the uncanny knack of bringing his agonies and ecstasies bubbling to the surface, through whispers, growls, screams and a good degree of thrashing around at the piano stool. For the uninitiated, it can be alarming. You might think there’s an exorcism taking place until the moment he locks eyes with you from the stage.” – Moshcam
