Sex ‘69 is an exciting and innovative online project exploring Australia’s ‘underground’ Adult retail industry, starting in ’69 and evolving until today. www.sex69project.com
Drawing from a combination of historical and contemporary material, including photos, written documentation and interviews, Sex ’69 will give a window into the commodified space of the Adult retail world and give a voice to the hidden and often stigmatised truth of Adult retail proprietors, the workers and their unique milieu.
Sex ’69 will ultimately become a living historical document – one that pays homage to the Adult Retail Industry and its position within the Australian landscape. It will also become an important resource for those working in the Adult Retail Industry and anyone wanting to learn about an important part of Australian culture and history.

Sex ’69 Website Launch
What: Sex ’69 website launch – to be officially launched by Fiona Patten MP – Reason Party
When: November 30, 2019, 7-10pm
Where: Hares and Hyenas – 63 Johnston St, Fitzroy
As part of the launch, there will be:
- Speeches by VIP members of the Adult Retail Industry
- A performance by Six Inches Uncut – a cabaret deviant, smut poet, and really bad drag queen
- Video footage on display created by well-known female porn-makers Morgana Muses from Permission4Pleasure, Michelle Flynn from Lightsouthern Cinema and Erika Lust Films
- Great music playing all night and VIP giveaways
