Hello friends,
The silly season is here so shop the sales and see the shows…
First up, if you’re struggling at secret Santa, there’s always the gift of independent music! To help you out, I’ve got a storewide 20% off sale. Just enter codeword xsale at checkout over at Bandcamp and you’re good to go. I’ll package it all up nicely – perhaps an EP or a limited edition vinyl – and throw in a couple of badges. If you’re looking for local illustrated Christmas cards, calendars and wrapping paper, may I also suggest you check out my little sister’s shop here. She has got some beautiful gift ideas including illustrations of banana slugs and sloths.
I have a few shows left to play for this decade before we hit the roaring twenties, just check out the gig listings below. One show, in particular, I’d love to let you know about is MAS_ (Melbourne Amplified Strings) at Jazz Lab in Brunswick on December 8th as part of this year’s Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival.
This year, Anita Quayle (cello) and I formed MAS_ to curate four concerts per year exploring how to innovate for amplified string writing. We presented Global Wanderlust, Rhythms and Duets. Our final concert is called RECOVER and will feature our greatest hits from the year as well as a collaboration with jazz pianist Nat Bartsch performing her jazz lullabies. You can purchase tickets here.
Finally, I am very excited to announce that in 2020 I will be releasing an album called Songs From The Bottom Of The Well featuring pop songs and instrumentals all on the one release. I will be sharing singles over the next few months and also trying desperately to raise some money to have it mixed by my friend Isaac Barter so stay tuned to see how you can help.
It’s that time of year when I take a quick survey to see what you’ve liked and loved, so if you’ve got a few minutes to spare, please consider filling out this survey so that I can keep making music that is inspiring, accessible and challenging.
Thank you for coming out to shows and for all your love and support at my solo show last month. It has been an incredibly fulfilling year of music-making.
Happy Christmas.
Love Xani
xx
