The Wolfe Brothers team up with their good mates LOCASH for their latest barnstormer Startin’ Something, available digitally now. Hailed by the band as ‘a party starter from Tasmania to Tennessee,’ the track sure does deliver. With a sonic vibe reminiscent of the international clinking of a Cascade Blue tinnie to a Budweiser brewski, this duet brings together two much-loved duos with a generous helping of bravado and cheer. A good time tune, and a sure-fire hit, the release comes hot on the heels of The Wolfe Brothers’ 14th consecutive Australia Country Airplay No. 1, Anybody Ever.
Produced by Lindsay Rimes (Luke Bryan, Kane Brown, Kylie Minogue) Startin’ Something captures a similarly joyful fusion of country, rock and pop as previous single, No Brakes on which The Wolfe Brothers had also collaborated with Rimes. Written with Jordan Brooker (Luke Combs) back in 2016, the stars aligned as the brothers emerged from their award-winning album Country Heart to write the new record.
Revisiting their back catalogue, the 2016 Startin’ Something track was reimagined. “We wanted to make a record we could play live anywhere – from the back of a truck at a BNS Ball to a stadium,” says bassist Tom Wolfe. “Startin’ Something seemed to be one of those songs that kept giving us that feeling.”
Billboard Country Airplay chart-topper and 2019 Academy of Country Music Awards Duo of Year nominee, LOCASH will need no introduction to music fans. With a haul of Golden Guitars to their name, The Wolfe Brothers also have the accolade department sorted. The pairing of these two great duos promises great things and certainly delivers in spades.
“Our paths first crossed back in 2016 when the LOCASH single I Love This Life was dominating the charts and it was just awesome to be on the same stage,” recalls lead singer Nick Wolfe. “Fast forward to now and we’re on the same record label with BBR Music Group/BMG. We seized the opportunity to reach out and the rest is history!”
Startin’ Something is the third single released from The Wolfe Brothers’ fifth album, Kids On Cassette, now announced for release on July 30. “We’ve pushed ourselves into new areas, feels and sounds for this record,” says Tom of the impending release. “It’s got heart, soul and a lot of fun in this one!”
This marks the first album released following the band’s signing at BBR Music Group/BMG. “I can’t wait for people to hear Kids on Cassette,” says Nick. “We’re really proud of the end result and just can’t wait to play the songs live!”
The brothers both acknowledge the massive support the new songs have received from their fans. With their last single Anybody Ever still in the Top 20, after spending 29 weeks in the Australia Country Airplay charts, and No Brakes before that, spending 22 weeks in the Top 20, it’s clear that The Wolfe Brothers are a band at the top of their game. With songs of this calibre, Kids on Cassette promises to be a crowd pleaser, and one thing is for sure; the brothers can’t wait to share it!
