Tommy is a fencesitter
he sits outside the nursing home
watching the world go by
on Barkly Street
Tommy’s got the kindest eyes
he tells people
“You’ve got personality
and the most gorgeous smile”
Sometimes Tommy walks past you
while you’re lost in thought
and earnestly says
“Always help people”
Tommy the human tamer
a friend in need is a friend indeed
visit your friend often
and ask them what they need
Tommy is my shadow
reminding me to be kind
when the burdens weigh heavy
he is my heaven sent guide
