There’s a busy April ahead across the country as Bluesfest Touring announce another five tours for April 2020.
As the son of Frank Zappa, it was inevitable from the moment he was born that Dweezil Zappa was going to be a musician and we’re thrilled to say he is bringing his iconic ‘Hot Rats’ tour to Australia this April, in celebration of 50 years since the album’s release. Featuring a performance of the entirety of his father’s 1969 album, as well as more of Frank Zappa choice cuts, the tour will see dates in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne. For more info, see press release here.
Bringing their unique soul, jazz and gospel music – Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles will bless Australian & New Zealand with their debut tour this April. Cory Henry is among modern music’s most inventive minds. While mastering multiple instruments at a young age, he dominated the stage as a former member of Snarky Puppy. Cory’s name as a solo artist has risen to the top, performing in cities and festivals around the world including Okeechobee, Electric Forest, North Sea Jazz and Love Supreme Festival. Tal Wilkenfeld, the Sydney born bassist turned singer-songwriter with incredible live vocals has just dropped details of a Melbourne and a Sydney show after her Bluesfest Byron Bay performance this Easter. At just 14 years old, Wilkenfeld began playing guitar. It wasn’t long before she dropped out of school and emigrated to the States to study electric guitar where she then began making a name for herself in New York’s jazz clubs, working with some of the industry greats. Having influenced the likes of Four Tet and Jamie xx, get your dancing shoes ready for some bangin’ Afro-pop beats from Amadou & Mariam in Sydney and Melbourne this April. For the past forty-odd years, Amadou & Mariam have managed to joyfully combine their love story with a musical career while becoming discreetly but surely, the most famous ambassadors for Malian music and African music, all around the world; a golden status that they carry with brio and playfully challenge with each new album. Amid their current tour in honour of the 50th Anniversary of The Allman Brothers Band, The Allman Betts Band are treating fans down under to Sydney and Melbourne headline dates this April. When the band’s debut album, ‘Down to the River’ entered the rock charts at number one in June of 2019, it was obvious that these talented progenies were more than ready to bring their original repertoire to generations of fans, old and new. They were primed to carry forward the illustrious spirit and tradition of their fathers’ group, The Allman Brothers Band. More information and press pics available here.
