What are you looking forward to after this is all over…

In my isolation, I have been doing lots of things. Some days, I also do nothing and that feels good, too. But I’d like to share with you a breathtakingly beautiful online experience I’ve been working on with Anita Quayle (cello) and Sarita McHarg (sitar/voice).

Our energetic and ambitious friends from The Boite have curated an online program for concerts that were meant to take place live. It has been so refreshing having an organisation adapt to the current situation rather than cancel. As you all would know by now, all of my gigs have been cancelled which has meant no work for me! But The Boite are supporting artists while also creating mind-blowing content. Details for this concert featuring MAS (Melbourne Amplified Strings) are:

In other news, I have just released a new “Live In Iso” track for all my subscribers over at Bandcamp. The piece I chose to record this week is “Take It Slowly”. If you’d like to get in on the weekly audio surprises, head here and subscribe now. You can choose any amount monthly and cancel any time.

My next twitch.tv stream is happening this Sunday at 4pm AEST and I’ll be playing some songs from one of my first albums “It Won’t End That Way“. Should be lots of fun. For anyone who is interested in keeping up with what’s happening over on twitch.tv, I’ve set up a Facebook group with links to awesome violinists, setlists, e-tutorials and heaps more. Head here.

Finally, here’s a really beautiful and calming playlist curated by Emily King I’ve been listening to lately if you need it.

Sending you big love.

MEAA and the Musicians Union: An introduction

Musicians and artists, crew, stunt workers and ushers have all been impacted by COVID-19 in financial and emotional ways. Unfortunately, the Job Keeper and Job Seeker wage subsidies don’t cover everyone in my industry. The Government also recently declined supporting the Arts Sector with a stimulus package while venues are shut down.

I have joined my union and have been attending committee meetings to better understand how our industry and the unions work. MEAA recently won a campaign to get a seat at the table in conversations with Liberal Minister for the Art, Paul Fletcher.

If you’d like to help out, this week’s campaign is all about non-musicians and non-artists who want to help! Post a pic of yourself enjoying the arts or just type a comment on social media including the following text and tag three or more friends to do the same:

“When this is over I’m looking forward to [insert creative activity, event, content]. @PaulFletcherMP please support the workers and the sector so it’s there for us when this is over! #saveourcreators #noworkerleftbehind (Tag 3 friends) you’re up! Join the challenge and post the entertainment or arts you’re looking forward to.”

Thanks for your help!
