WAM is proud to present WA Music Week (WAMW), a 10-day, state-wide celebration of original, contemporary music featuring over 60 events across regional and metropolitan Western Australia. The inaugural event is made possible through funding from Premier Mark McGowan and the State Government of WA, and ongoing support from our presenting partner Act Belong Commit.
Taking place Friday 19 March 2021 – Sunday 28 March 2021, WAMW aims to connect the WA Music Industry and audiences through an inclusive and accessible series of events across the state, whilst injecting vital funding directly to artists, contractors and businesses in the sector.
In addition to WAM’s flagship events WAMFest presented by Act Belong Commit, WAMCon and WAMAwards, WAMW sees new events Hear & Now, digital photography exhibition Snapshot plus Music Everywhere shows held by WA venues, promoters and labels across the 10 days.
WAM CEO, Mike Harris, says of the celebrations ‘Over the past months during COVID-19, and as in previous crises, we have seen time and again that the greater community are turning to the arts generally, and music specifically, to get them through the impact of the pandemic shutdowns and isolation.
‘After the year that we’ve all had, we want to make music the centerpiece by celebrating the finest Western Australian music and musicians and supporting the WA Music industry.
‘There is plenty for you to see and do right here in WA and we think that local music is a huge part of that. Come on and join the WA Music Week party.’
Details on WA Music Week events will be revealed over the coming weeks, with the full WA Music Week program released in early March.
