Following a successful 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM), WAM are excited to welcome new Board members, Kristina West and Claire Turton, and returning Board member Al Taylor. Concluding a transformational year for the organisation, the AGM saw WAM release their Annual Report and celebrate the achievements of 2020-2021.
Incoming Board Member, Kristina West, aims to use her passion for local music and experience in organisational change management to drive a culture of continuous improvement within WAM. With a focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for members and the wider sector, Kristina notes the importance of WAM leading with transparency and humility, and remaining open to listening, reflecting, and adjusting its course. Her skills will be a valuable contribution as WAM continues work on their new strategic plan.
Claire Turton brings extensive financial services sector experience and fundraising capabilities to the WAM Board, and aims to use her knowledge to increase community support and member engagement for WAM. As an active musician and member of the local music community, Claire hopes to harness her own passion and determination to see the success of WAM into the future, and support industry growth into an increasingly uncertain future.
Incumbent Board President, Al Taylor, returns to the Board and remains focussed on shining a light on the value of the WA music sector, and ensuring it receives the acclaim, respect and support it needs to grow. Having played a key role in the recent Membership Needs Assessment and strategic planning process, Al is committed to harnessing the forward momentum of the organisation and delivering on new strategic vision for the betterment of the industry.
WAM would like to extend a big thank you to outgoing Board members, Noah Shilkin (11 years) and Bel Skinner (8 years) for their dedication and many contributions to the organisation across their sitting time.
