Vineyards planted in the Middle Ages on the best terroirs of the Pauillac appellation on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region, Chateau Grand-Puy Ducasse has a long and fine wine making history.
Made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (57%) and Merlot (43%), the Chateau Grand-Puy Ducasse 2017 Yes guys a Cab/Merlot. But not as we know it.
On the nose:
Not as powerful as I was expecting but never the less as I looked harder my nose filled with aromas of ripe cherries, and subtle cedar in the fore ground.
On the palate:
The wine has a juicy dryness, showing the fruit off, balanced with a pleasing acidity.
This for me was what I expected from a Pauillac.
