FEATURING SETS FROM FRIENDS CASSIUS SELECT, COP ENVY AND MORIARTY
Fresh off the back of the announcement of his forthcoming Dark Zoo EP (out May 20 via Soothsayer), we are thrilled to share the news that Dro Carey (aka Eugene Ward) will be playing at Australia’s next instalment of the coveted Boiler Room on May 24, with friends Cassius Select, Cop Envy and Moriarty.
An honour for any electronic musician, this very special Boiler Room Session will give fans a taste of what to expect from the Dark Zoo EP as well as pay homage to his family of like-minded artists. As Ward puts it…
“Boiler Room has been an organisation I’ve looked up to for a long time. They’ve put together countless amazing broadcasts and have had a profound effect on shaping a solid, diverse dance music culture across the world. I’m really excited to share the night with Cassius Select, Cop Envy and Moriarty. They are all Sydney music figures that I’ve had key creative interactions with and drawn inspiration from. Should be a good night!”
This special occasion will also shine a spotlight on Ward’s new material under the Dro Carey moniker with a very special DJ set showcasing what the Dark Zoo EP has to offer. We can’t give too much away, but it promises to further solidify Dro Carey as being at the forefront of forward-thinking electronic music in this country.
Known as a “producer’s producer”, the first two singles from Dro Carey’s Dark Zoo EP have established him as something more than an underground hero. Whether it’s the club exploration of ‘Grow Lithe’, or the grime-meets-pop experimentation of the new single ‘Queensberry Rules (feat KUČKA’) – (which has just been added to JJJ and premiered by Pigeons & Planes) the night serves as long overdue recognition for this prolific and enigmatic musician.
‘Dro Carey & Friends’ will be streaming live HERE from 8:00pm – 11:30pm Tuesday 24th May.
