A 61-year-old woman has been arrested by Victoria Police in connection with a suspicious house fire in Melbourne’s North in the early hours of Wednesday 3 January 2024.

Emergency services were called to a home at 45A Ophir Street, Broadmeadows after a blaze broke out about 2am on Wednesday morning.
It took more than 30 firefighters to bring the blaze under control.
Two people managed to escape the blaze, including a 67-year-old man who fled the property without injury.
A 61-year-old woman, believed to be his partner, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She has been arrested and remains in hospital under police guard.
